Engine Cooling

Cooling system

Water pump pumps coolant through engine block into radiator then back again the air passing through the radiator cools the coolant returning to the engine.

Coolant flushes are so vital to keeping cooling system components long lasting.
As for radiator hoses make sure the are not swollen or crunchy when felt. A rule of thumb the radiator hoses should be changed at 100,000 miles. They can get soft and burst leaving you stranded not good. Also change the thermostat the same time is also good idea since this component wears out. Possible problems with thermostats I have seen over the years are they can break apart, get stuck closed, get stuck open. Any leaks visually seen need to be fixed asap. Over heating engine can cause blown headgaskets, Cracked heads, valve damage,. Poor heat in the car can be a blown head gasket. Just a another tip dont mean to scare you worst case scenario. Please refer to repair manual for any coolan repairs.
